do it yourself -> cell phone pouch

i made this little pouch for my tiny cell phone last night. why do i need a pouch for my cell phone? because i don´t want scratches on it. besides, it protects the phone in case it fell [actually happened today and the pouch was there for it! how cool is that.]. it is like the iPhone case, only it is hand-made and has a soul in it. besides, it only took me an hour to make and i love the way it turned out. the fabric is thrifted, so the whole thing barely cost me anything. win!
since i always take pictures of the things i make --- here is a step by sep tutorial on how to make your own cell phone pouch. sorry for the bad picture quality, it was 9pm.

WHAT YOU NEED
- your cell phone
- fabric; 2 different patterns; i used striped and one-coloured [i am not sure about the exact type of the pieces i used, but they look and feel like cotton; anyhow they should be strong and durable materials]
 - scissors
- thread
- needle
- pins
- a few pretty buttons
- [sewing machine OR you can sew by hand]

fold the fabric in half  and tuck the phone in between to see how much you need. make sure you leave some extra edge for sewing [0,5-1 cm/0,2-0,4 in]

cut. set the phone on the top now to see how much of lenght you need. again, leave some extra for sewing [this time a bit more, ~1.5 cm/0.6 in] cut again.

once you have the first piece cut out, set it on the other fabric, trace a  line along the edge and cut out.

you need another tiny piece of the second fabric. mark down the lenght of the edge [not the width!] cut out about a 4cm/1.5 in wide strip.
simply seam the edges of the tiny piece.
see where about you want the strip to cross the pouch-to-be. i chose about 1.5cm/0.6in from the edge. attach with pins and sew.
now it should look something like this.
okay, well done so far. it is time for some buttons now. i chose these two pretty coloured ones.
see where about on the strip you want the buttons. sew by hand.
once the buttons are sewn on fold the whole thing in half INSIDE OUT. sew the edges leaving one end open.
that being done, move on to the other piece which will be the inside of your pouch. [you can skip that part if you only care for the outside, but know that it wont last too long then]. sew the edges leaving one end open, but take into consideration that the inside pouch needs to be a little smaller just for it to fit in the other one. so instead of sewing right from the edge move the presser foot just a bit to the left.
... both should look like this now [inside out of course].
you are almost done. now turn the first pouch inside in/outside out and tuck the other one in it just the way it is. if it wont fit right, take it out and sew even a little more away from the edge [at the same time make sure you wont go too far, because the cell phone might not fit in later on]. check the corners, if needed, put the cell phone in the whole thing for a sec to get the right shape and make the pouch look nice. attach with pins.
simply just fold both the edges inwards like in the picture and seam real quick.
last sep! sew the edges. this is a bit tricky, but be patient and just do it.

all done! if yours does not look anything like this then you probably did everything wrong.

all done with my first tutorial [took me even longer than making the pouch itself]. i hope it gave you some good ideas or inspired you.
